Belo Mantuano was one of many people who tried a fictitious Aryanization to save someone from persecution. The Aryanization consisted of a Slovak non-Jewish person taking over a Jewish business and taking 51% (the remaining 49% was retained by the jewish businessman) of profit so that the business could still function and the owner wasn't deported. Mantuano thus arranged a fictitious Aryanization of the wholesale belonging to his wife's father, S. Spitz, and thus the whole family avoided deportation in 1942. However, this story ends tragically, as Mantuáno and his Jewish relatives were murdered at the Jewish cemetery in Zvolen in November/December 1944, because he joined the fighters during the SNP (Slovak National Uprizing).
